  1. This was, without a shadow of a doubt, the GREATEST Superhero/Comic Book movie of all time!!! It's as if God himself walked into a theater and said "Let there be EPICNESS!" and we were blessed with The Avengers. Not to take anything away from The Dark Knight(which is an amazing movie period), but The Avengers is just the total package for comic book movies. Joss Whedon deserves so much credit for being able to craft a story where all the characters have enough screen time to not feel overshadowed by any of their co-stars. The movie flows surprisingly fast with a run time of over 2 1/2 hours. The final hour of the movie is where the characters truly shine. Speaking of the characters, they are all excellent, but there is one who truly stands out among the cast, and that is Mark Ruffalo's take on Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Joss Whedon managed to do in this film what some have tried to do for years, he perfected The Hulk. I am a fan of the Edward Norton Hulk movie, but he always kind of felt out of place being in a comic book movie. Mark Ruffalo brings much needed depth, charisma, and charm to the character of Dr. Banner and "The Other Guy" as he calls his alter ego through out the film. The Hulk in general steals the show, which is a great feat, considering we only see him twice in the movie. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man is again on his A game. Stark is still a quick-witted, ego maniacial, self obessesed, genius, billionaire, who also grows up and learns what it truly means to be part of a team. Plus you can't help but still love the guy. Thor is still awesome as the God of Thunder, who does some serious damage in the final battle. Hawkeye finally gets to show off his skill set as a master archer. Black Widow just solidifies her position as being the only girl who can truly hang with the big boys. Captain America is like the breath of fresh air in the group. As a "fish out of water" in the modern world, he has a lot of funny moments with how out of touch he is with how the world is today.
