5000 People Lost or Died in the Japan 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake and Tsunami

Japan's Kyodo news agency today said that by March 14, 5,000 people have lost or died in the Northeastern Japan 8.9 magnitude earthquake and 10 meters tsunami followed by the quake. Earthquake-stricken areas are seriously short of water, food, gasoline and other supplies. The amount of people who gather in the refuge has risen to 550,000. The current prime minister of Japan Naoto Kan said that the country is experiencing its largest difficulties since the end of World War II in 1945.
